Festival weather
Viking Festival Saturday 15 June

07 June 2013

On Saturday 15th June Moloughney’s is taking part in the annual Viking Festival by the Wooden Bridge on the seafront in Clontarf. There will be a fantastic food village celebrating Clontarf’s restaurants and at the Moloughney’s food stall, amongst other goodies, we’ll be serving Pulled Pork Blaas from a whole roast suckling pig and also those Smoked Paprika Sausages made to our recipe by McKenna’s Butchers all served up in Waterford Blaas with our homemade chutneys and relishes. To keep the young (and old) revellers entertained at the festival there’ll be two VIking long ships and a Viking Village, a tented encampment complete with mercenaries, merchants and a monier bringing Clontarf’s vivid Viking history to life on the promenade with authentic crafts, clothing and combat with displays throughout the day. Adults can try their hand at archery, or let their little Vikings try their hand in the children’s combat training and witness the warriors as they brandish their medieval weapons. See how the people of old Dyflin went about their daily lives, meet with Ragnar the Viking and other costumed characters and learn about the historical heroes and villains that helped to put Clontarf on the map. This lovely family event is growing every year and is Viking themed in the run up to the millenium anniversary in 2014 of the Battle of Clontarf.
See ye at the Wooden Bridge!

Photograph taken on Dollymount Strand by Gwen Cunningham
Upstairs at Moloughney's

03 October 2012

We decided that the bar upstairs at Moloughney’s was a bit betwix’d and between so… we’re building a new one which will be the full length of the back of the room. This has involved Liam swapping his whites for a dust mask and combats and he’s working to a chop chop timetable to have the new bar (and the floor, and the ceiling, and the toilets!) finished by the end of the week. Ah, sure he loves a bit of a challenge.

We hope you’ll like the results!

Woodstock is Food & Wine Readers' Choice 2012

11 September 2012

We’re so proud! Big brother Woodstock, Phibsborough, is Food & Wine Magazine Readers’ Choice 2012. Food & Wine Magazine notes that Woodstock swept the boards and that this is ‘a testament to the loyal following this small café has garnered..Famous for its fry ups and hearty dinners, think bowls of stew, cassoulet, shepherd pie and bangers and mash. The salads and quiches are also quite the hit as are the range of homemade desserts and scones.’ So cross-pollinate! Say hello at Woodstock the next time you’re passing through, be it on the way to Croke Park, the Botanic Gardens or the Phoenix Park. Woodstock is open from 7.30 every day until 8.00 Sunday to Wednesday and now open late for supper Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
